The cattery name TAILSEND was registered with The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc. (CFA) in 1969 by Roger and his mother, Grace. They bred several wonderful Himalayan Persians in the 1970's, including:
Karen joined the cattery management team when she married Roger in 1971, and they took Chimbai to live with them. Chimbai was a wonderful male for his time, and was shown to CCA Grand Champion as well as CFA Champion. He was the father of our first CFA Grand Champion, Tailsend Kalahpur, and went on to sire a few more Grand Champion daughters.
A Maine Coon came to live with us in 1994, and she took over as the chief showoff in the house. That cat did things the Abys never even thought about! Champion McKittyCreek's Miss Qito of Tailsend(right), or Skeeter as she was known, was a lovely Brown Tabby and White Female that we got from Bill and Sue Storten. Sadly, Skeeter died suddenly while raising her second litter of kittens - and we all miss her dreadfully to this day! The house is just not the same without her, but she sold us on the breed and because of her we will probably always have a Maine Coon in our home.
Skeeter was the mother of Tailsend's Winston (left). Winston is a Silver Mackerel Tabby neuter, and weighed in at 12 lbs when he was 10 months old! We had fun showing him in the Fall of '96 and he is now a Grand Premier! We occasioanlly take him out to exhibitions at malls, and he continues to attract a great deal of attention because of his size and color. At the present time we are not breeding Maine Coons, but plan to do so in the future once again.

A TURKISH ANGORA moved in during the Fall of 1996! And she is in keeping with other longhairs in the house by being a Brown Mackerel Tabby <g> Galatia Brownie Points is co-owned by Karen and Brenda Wood. Karen saw this gorgeous kitten as a baby when visiting Charmaine and Susan at Galatia Cattery and was delighted to accept when she was offered the chance to have her. Now if we could only keep her reasonably slim so that we can continue to show her! She has become fondly known as "Brownie the Blimp"!
Fortunately, the Maine Coons chased Brownie around the house and whipped her body into shape! She is now a GRAND CHAMPION, and was the Best Tabby Turkish Angora in the Great Lakes Region 1996-1997 Awards. Brownie was also named Best Turkish Angora in the Great Lakes Region for the 1997-1998 show season, and was named CFA's Best Tabby Turkish Angora for the 1997-1998 show season!
Our current menagerie includes one Maine Coon neuter, two Turkish Angora spays, and two Oriental Shorthairs ...... as well as the Abyssinians.
